This past weekend marked the culmination of six months of preparation and training for my first competitive HYROX Doubles event in Turin, Italy!
For those unfamiliar, HYROX is a global fitness competition that combines running with various functional workouts.
My event didn’t go exactly as planned. Entering the event with injuries, I knew there was a risk of further damage. Unfortunately, during one of the runs, I strained my hamstring and had to slow down to be able to finish the event in one piece!
The great thing about HYROX Doubles is having a partner, and that is exactly what I had. He kept me going to the finish, always supportive, taking on a bigger burden of the functional parts where required, and remaining positive throughout.
This is a challenging feat, as it’s your partner’s race as well!
On the way home, I had time to reflect on everything I’ve learned throughout my HYROX journey - from training and dealing with injuries to competing. This experience has profoundly impacted me, and I intend to draw on these lessons in both my personal and professional life.
