I Finally Did It - by Jon Clark
Â
This past weekend, I ticked off a long-standing item on my bucket list: completing the iconic London to Brighton bike ride - and what an unforgettable experience it was!
Â

I’ve dreamed of taking part in this legendary ride, but for one reason or another, the opportunity never quite lined up. This year, everything finally came together, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have rid
den in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Â
The day started early with a 4am breakfast to fuel up for my 6am wave time start. As the sun began to rise over London, I joined thousands of other riders at the starting line, buzzing with anticipation and excitement.
Â
During the ride, the weather was perfect - sunny skies and a gentle breeze made for ideal riding conditions. The route itself was stunning and ever evolving, as we left the built-up city behind and ventured into the winding countryside roads. The journey culminated at the Brighton seafront, with the pinnacle (quite literally!) being the climb up Ditchling Beacon, just 15 km from the finish line - a true test of grit and determination.

What truly made the day special was the incredible sense of camaraderie among the riders. Whether it was a quick word of encouragement, a shared laugh, or a helping hand on a tough hill, the spirit of togetherness was everywhere. The marshals were phenomenal - cheerful, organised, and always ready with a smile or a shout of support. And the crowds - clapping and cheering, made us feel very special.
Â
Crossing the finish line in Brighton was a moment I’ll never forget. It wasn’t just about the miles covered or the personal achievement—it was about raising money and awareness for the British Heart Foundation, whose work saves lives every day.
Â
To everyone who donated (big thank you to Saue Health), supported, or cheered on all the riders - thank you. You were part of something amazing.
Â

Here’s to more rides, more challenges, and more opportunities to make a difference.
